The Omnivore's Dillema

Wow, this sustainability thing is really starting to get legs… (sorry, couldn’t resist thatJ). Everywhere I turn people are talking up green, which is great, but I have to admit to being a bit skeptical. If you’re doing it with integrity; great. If you’re doing it to jump on a bandwagon; forget. Myself and others will out you; we’ll make sure word gets out at your effort to deceive us. I’ve just read The Omnivore Dilemma by Michael Pollan, and have to say, I thought I was pretty switched on when it comes to food, but this book really opened my eyes to the lengths we’ll go to screw each other. Its time we educate ourselves to what is really going on; it’s a major step towards creating our own reality, and as such, putting us on a path to a sustainable future.

How you see is what you get...

It happened to me again this morning... It seems everywhere I look these days I find a reference to us creating our own reality. I'm sure you've heard the story; no sooner do you start thinking of buying a yellow VW beetle that you start seeing them everywhere... They were there before; you just couldn't see them. As time goes on, the more convinced I become that there is more going on here than meets the eye. That there is magic in the spaces, in the seemingly insignificant moments we pay little attention to, but mean everything when it comes to down to how we feel about a situation, person or event. As I said, people are really starting to pick up on this, and it was obvious to me this morning when i picked up the recently arrived copy of Joe Calloway's latest book "Work like you're showing off" that Joe "gets it". He sees it big time.

"Even though I'm not crazy about the sometimes cheesy, over the top delivery of what is generally considered to be motivational thinking, I can't argue with one simple fact. If I can learn to change the way I look at my world, then I can change my world."

Joe is a business speaker. He gets it. Everyone is starting to get it. We can't blame anyone else anymore. If you're not happy with where you are at, only you can change that. Nobody is saying its going to be easy; just that it is undeniably true.

Its not what you see is what you get. that doesn't cut it anymore.

How you see is what you get. How you see determines your reality and what you get out of life.

If you can change the way you see the world, you can literally change the world; beginning with your own...
